Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I request an author signing?
We recommend reaching out as early as possible, especially if you're planning a book launch or tour stop. Event availability depends on our partner locations, existing commitments, and the time needed to coordinate details and promotion.
Have a date approaching quickly? You're still welcome to inquire! We'll do our best to accommodate requests when scheduling allows. Feel free to send us a direct email if the event is to be within two weeks. We will see what we can do.
Can I request a specific location or multiple signing locations?
Absolutely! You're welcome to request a specific partner location or express interest in signing at multiple venues. We can also help coordinate book tour stops across our locations.
We'll work with you to explore venue availability, scheduling, and the arrangements needed for each event. If you're unsure which location would be the best fit, we're happy to discuss your options!
How do I check if you have an open weekend?
We highly recommend checking our calendar on the Events page. We have all of our events by location on there, so you can check which weekends you can wander with us!
Who provides the books for an author signing?
We can work with authors who provide their own books or coordinate purchasing through publishers, distributors, and wholesalers.
We'll discuss book availability, quantities, pricing, and delivery arrangements before your event to determine the best approach. Our goal is to ensure books are ready for readers when signing day arrives!
How do book sales and author payouts work at signings?
For in-person author signings, we operate on a standard 70/30 sales split, with authors receiving 70% and Enchanted Scriptorium receiving 30%. Our portion helps cover event coordination, marketing, promotional materials, and the time and resources involved in organizing a successful signing.
Authors are welcome to bring their own payment-processing equipment, or Enchanted Scriptorium can assist with processing sales. At the conclusion of the event, we'll reconcile books and merchandise sold and settle any applicable payouts.
We'll review payment processing, inventory, and any applicable fees with you before your signing so everyone knows what to expect.
How will my author signing be promoted?
We've got the marketing covered! Enchanted Scriptorium coordinates event promotion through Instagram, Facebook, and other social media campaigns, as well as event listings and registration platforms such as Eventbrite.
We also design promotional graphics and in-store posters to help spread the word at participating locations. Our goal is to help you connect with readers while you focus on preparing for your event!
What should I expect on the day of my signing?
We'll coordinate event details with you in advance, including arrival time, setup, available space, and any materials you may need to bring.
On signing day, we recommend arriving a little early to get settled, organize your books and merchandise, and prepare to meet readers. We'll help coordinate the event with our host location and address any logistical questions that arise.
At the end of the event, we'll reconcile sales and inventory together and settle any applicable payouts before wrapping up.
Can I return for another signing?
Of course! We love welcoming familiar faces back to our events. Whether you're celebrating a new release, hoping to visit a different location, or simply interested in reconnecting with readers, we'd be happy to explore another signing with you.
Repeat events depend on venue availability, scheduling, and previous event experiences, but we're always excited to continue building relationships with our authors!
